I am Lucy. I am a female Eclectus Parrot. I was born in late 2001 in the Wollongong region. I think my ancestors were from New Guinea. I moved to the East Household as a baby. They hand fed me 3 times a day until I was able feed myself. I live on cereal, pellets and vegetables. My favorite food is chicken bones. I can talk a little bit. I can say things like “whats up Luc”, “what's up Stan”, “G’day mate”.
I’m sure I could talk more if people talked more to me. Since Stan arrived I’ve had some-one to play and fight with but people talk to me less. I love to fly. Usually I only fly and waddle around the house. When I was in Canberra I was known to fly to the neighbours houses. I’ve been found and returned to my cage after a brief fly into the unknown. In December 2005 I flew across Australia to Perth with Qantas. I now have a nice new cage.
While my human family were out one night recently I escaped from my cage. However they found me in a small tree near our house. It was good to be home. I'm glad it's not as cold here. Recently I laid 6 eggs but they broke. I also am upsetting my owners at I chew the paint work and power cords.
I was very naughty recently - I flew away for the day. I knew my family would be worried about me, but I knew they would come looking for me. When Lincoln started door knocking the local houses looking for me I simply called out 'Lincoln' and he heard me - and took me home. They think I'm a dumb bird - but I'm actually very smart.
